Description
To address the issue that chemical explosives resulting from mining, quarrying, and ce projects, could also be used as a cover for clandestine nuclear tests, DOE sought to measure certain differences between underground nuclear ests and chemical tests in the same geology, so that other explosions could be identified. This was done in a field experiment code-named the Non-Proliferation Experiment (NPE).
