Description
High-resolution/near-surface CDP seismic survey to characterize the thickness and structure of lacustrine sedimentary rocks in the Olorgesailie basin in the southern Kenya rift. This area is the site of active archeological, paleoclimatic and geological research to better understand early human evolution and migrations and is in consideration for scientific drilling and core extraction to evaluate paleoclimate indicators proximal to hominin fossil sites. Detailed information from this area will help to constrain models that suggest climate variation were driving factors in early human evolution and dispersal "out of Africa."
