Description
Wide-angle seismic reflection and refraction data were obtained in the vicinity of the San Andreas, Hayward, and Calaveras faults during the Bay Area Seismic Imaging eXperiment (BASIX) to define the crustal structure in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. In september, 1991, the USGSs R/V S.P.Lee airgun array, totalling 96 liters (5824 cu.in.) was used as a seismic source for a marine reflection survey of the lower Sacramento River delta, San Francisco Bay, and the continental margin. This source was recorded on a temporary onshore seismic recorder array deployed by investigators from Stanford Univ., the USGS, the Univ. of California at Berkeley, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
