The GSN has been setting the standard for global seismic networks for over 20 years. Using supplemental funding provided by the DOE and the USGS, the GSN has been stimulating the development of new VBB sensor technologies as well as incorporating the latest methods of deploying borehole sensors to modernize sensors and improve the performance of the network. This SIG will update the seismological community on the nature and performance of the new technologies as well as the progress on modernizing the network. A brief discussion of the impact of adding infrasound sensors to some GSN stations will also be included.
